About the Journal

Journal of Intimate Counterpublics and Care is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal publishing scholarship, community knowledge, and activist praxis at the intersection of intimacy, care, and collective life. We are animated by liberation politics and committed to forms of knowledge-making that refuse the hierarchy between academic and community ways of knowing.

The journal welcomes empirical research, theoretical essays, autoethnography, community-based participatory work, creative non-fiction, and hybrid forms. Our editorial board brings together scholars, activists, practitioners, and community members as equal collaborators. We are committed to open access and to knowledge that remains accountable to the communities it serves.
